Since I didn’t have a lot going on this day, I decided to make another recipe I could take with us.

This is  the easiest recipe ever and they are very good. Not sure of the cracked pepper as that was not an ingredient

Flax seeds before

Flax seeds after ground

Flax seeds are high in fiber, estrogen (for those in my age bracket) and  Omega-3 fatty acids.  Okay, did you just hear Blah! blah! blah?  I know but good information none the less.

Mix together flax seeds and ground flax seeds with whole wheat flour, white flour, baking soda and salt

Cube 2 tablespoons butter and mix with hands… I know, kind of yucky sometimes but really the best way to get this mixed up.

Make a well in the mixture and add 1/2 cup buttermilk until all flour is mixed in. Knead about 10 times then place in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10 minutes.  This helps with the rolling our process and also this…

the part I hate, cleaning up!

After ten minutes, roll out the dough until quite thin,  if you really want to measure, it’s about 1/8″.

Using a pizza cutter or a round cookie cutter make your crackers. Prick with a fork. The number of times will probably depend on how angry or stressed you might be that day. I was in a great mood, so I only did a couple.

Place on cookie sheet with parchment paper and bake at 325 for 15 to 18 minutes.  They should be browned around the edges.

Great with cheese or just on their own.  They were a hit and everyone is always impressed when you bring homemade crackers!

Until we meet again
