I have to confess that this is NOT a Joy the Baker recipe from her cookbook but I think that if she had thought of it she would have included it there.
I made these for a party and some people actually thought I had bought them! I am not sure why but they were amazed and loved them none the less.
So, here we go with these wonderful succulent (see, I have a new word now, thanks to a very wonderful person named Amy) dream food in your mouth!
You will need some bread dough, however you wish to come by this so called bread dough is up to you. Personally, I prefered fresh so I used my bread maker and made 1 1/2 lb. loaf. This made 2 dozen, give or take a few, Monkey Muffins.
Obviously you will need muffin tins, the dead give away is the recipe title, just in case you missed that.
In each muffin tin put 1 teaspoon of butter, does not have to be exact because no one is watching. Well, not in my house anyway.
On top of the butter sprinkle just under a teaspoon of sugar, a little shake of cinnamon and a drop of vanilla extract.
Take your bread dough and make 3 balls of dough and put on top of the above mixture. See the picture, before the dough, after the dough.
Now you are going to repeat that. One teaspoon of butter, 1 teaspoon of sugar and shake of cinnamon all on top of the bread dough.
I would let them rise for about 30 minutes before you place them in a 375 farenheit oven for about 15 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Oh to be nice so you don’t have smoke rolling through your house just before a party, put the muffin tins on a baking sheet so the bubbliness doesn’t spill over.
As soon as you take them out of the oven, drizzle with, are you sitting down?, Sweetened Condensed Milk. Just because there were not quite enough calories yet. They are best warm but heck I ate some a day later and they were still great.
Until we meet again
seriously… with all what you bake and how much of it.. how on earth are you and Ron staying so thin?? You must work out 6 hrs a day! or have an incredibly fast metabolism.
If Bill saw these..i’d be in trouble..
I usually try to make it when I know people are coming over because I would eat it all. These are so easy!
THESE I am making!!! Maybe even this weekend…we can incorporate monkeys with Easter right? It might be a stretch but I’ll work on something! 🙂
They are really good and so easy. They also suggest you can buy Refrigerated biscuit dough. Or any frozen bread dough obviously. Enjoy
