Here are my ingredients for this recipe.
Rather strange, wouldn’t you agree? And by the way, that is a frozen banana in the front, NOT a sausage. That would just be weird.
Not sure what this will taste like but I can only assume it is very healthy, which I am okay with.
My son, Eliot got me on to Kale. I had never heard of it but apparently had eaten it before. It is a dutch thing and my mother-in-law would make boerenkool which is potatoes mixed with canned kale and various other things, which I am not really sure of because I have never made it. Sounds gross but actually is quite good. As for kale on its own, I find it a bit bitter. I did make some Kale Chips when Eliot was home at Christmas and they were not bad.
Bake to the recipe. You break up or chop a heaping cup of each kale and spinach leaves. Add this to the blender then add 1 1/2 cups of soy, almond or cow’s milk. I didn’t have soy or almond, but would love to try it with that. I did , however, have a cow to milk so I used that.
As you can see I didn’t really follow what I said above because I didn’t chop the spinach. To be fair, it was baby spinach so not really necessary, in my opinion. Other views are welcome.
Blend until a lovely shade of green. That is not what the recipe stated but rather what I stated. Obviously, you just read it!
Add the frozen banana, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter and blend.
Pour and drink. BUT… before you do anything else, DON’T smell it.
You just smelled it didn’t you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I quite liked the taste, so much I made more to take to work this week. I am sure my colleagues will love me.
Until next time
kale is the latest greatest super food. Growing up on boerenkool – i never would have thought it to be that super, even though i loved the Dutch dish.
I’ve made kale chips as well, and many a green monster smoothie in the last few years, but usually always with spinach. I’ve been hearing a lot of people say that they have been trying kale, and it doesn’t blend well. how did yours do? Funny story.. first time that i had a recipe that called for frozen bananas, i froze them, PEEL ON..and quickly learned, it’s pretty much impossible to peel a frozen banana..
ps.. where do you keep your cow?? 🙂
It actually blended really well. I have to say that today it is a bit more kale tasting than it was fresh yesterday.
The cow is a secret!
